Having seen those goldstone pics, I've got all nostalgic, so what are your best goldstone memories....

Mine: probably watching Deano's last minute free kick against Ipswich - ah, happy days...
A lthough a very close second has to be when I was mascot - but there wasn't the same feeling of euphoria...Just awe.

Jesus, where do you start! Really it has to be the great players to have graced the ground. obviously the likes a Wardy, Foster, Robinson, Towner, Steele, Moseley, Worthington etc etc. I was looking through some old programmes a while back and some of the opposition teams were awesome. Probably the best Liverpool side ever, Forest when they were champions of Europe, Playing sides like Man U, Spurs, Arsenal etc week in week out. For a while all the best players in the country played at the Goldstone.

Beer in the South Stand, beating Palace, Putting 5 past Cardiff with Maybank getting a hatrick!

Atmosphere, terraces, surging down the North stand when we scored. God I miss the place!

Mine would have to be when I was a ballboy at reserve games. Their was a particular game where john Keeley was asking me who to kick the ball to. He succeeded with everyone I said, even when i asked him to kick it to their winger :lolol: I don't think I have ever had such a giggle at a match. Shame he can't pass those kicking skills to Kuipers:clap:

Hasn't this been done before?

:) All the home cup games in 1983

:) Beating Liverpool (again) in 1984

:) Standing on the roof of the Gents (with dozens of others) to watch Man Utd in a dangerously over crowded match

:) Kevin Keagans last-ever professional game

:) Watching the kids in the front row wave their autograph books and call over to Alan Ball - and when he came over, they asked him to get Keagans autograph for them - when Alan realised that they didn't want his autograph, he very sportingly told them to feck off :lolol:

Strangely my favourite memory is 4-0 defeat - by Arsenal in the first match in Division 1- but this was us playing with the bigteams on an equal footing. about as unbelievable now as it was then, only it happened then

the whole of 1977-79 - two fantastic years - ground full to bursting every home game (well it seemed like it) - as a kid i hd to get into the ground 2 hours before kick off to get my spot in the NW terrace underneath the old white wooden Radio Brighton hut. Great Wins, great players, the whole thing seemed to be bursting with invincible self confidence, promotion - no-one could beat us, probably the best young strike in the country,

If you weren't there, remember how it felt during the back-to-back championship period and then add on about another 20,000 inside the ground, a manager in whom everyone had total belief,

Marvellous scenes

5) Steve Foster and his headband clearing ball after ball!
6) The scuffles in the North Stand.(scary at the time though!)
7) Being a bit nervous during the Chelsea riots 1983.
8) Being able to stand on terracing.
9) Our unique floodlights.(drenchlighting!)
10) Standing on the East & North terraces with my mates.
11) Beating Palace.

18) The pitch invasion v York 1996.
19) Seeing Bellotti running for his life from the directors box 60 seconds into a match 1996?
20) The pre/during/post match demonstrations-various matches!

Was that the England B side V's Italy under 21's. the teams including the likes of Gazza tony Adams and totto Schillachi. If so I was standing next to loads of fanatical Wolves fans who were going potty everytime Steve Bull got a touch

One game that sticks out for me:
Beating Darlington 3-1 to secure 4th div title in 1965 .Over 31000 in the ground!(Average gate that season was 17000)

Who would have thought that we would have bought Bobby Smith from Spurs for £5k 6 months after he played for England at Wembley.

It is comparable to us buying Alan Shearer for £50k now unbelievable.

Norwich - FA Cup Quarter Final, I really was in 7th heaven after that game.

I think it was the realisation that we were so close to Wembley
