Actually it was a pint of Budweiser in a virtually deserted Sports bar in New Jersey on a very hot day. Went down so fast it made the barman's eyes water.

Choosing a best lager is rather like asking would you rather be deaf or blind, however I would have to say either something brewed by the Czechs or Belgians. From the Czech Republic I would offer either Urquell or Budvar and from Belgium Blanche de Namur.

Upon arriving at a hotel in Tenerife (obviously bloody hot), we were greeted with an Ice-crusted glass of Dorada...best beer I EVER had!

Baltika no6 has to be one of the best I have had. Russian beer brewed in St Petersburg and a weaker version is available over here in some selected pubs by the bottle. I quite like Asahi and a few of the easten block lagers as well.

not for its taste but for its strength and potency-chang in thailand is a treat to drink-especially in the form of the 6 pint 'chang towers' available in some parts of bangkok-mmm mmmm!

had some dortmunder the other day in small restaurant near rochdale. really nice.

Berliner pilsner is good as is all german brew me thinks.

not technically a lager but delerium (pink elephant) from brussels is my favourite non-ale at the moment.

i tell you what is bobbins, fullers discovery, absolute gnats piss, marketed as a blonde beer, its just weak and light fullers.

Staropramen is the best common premium lager in the UK...bar none! except Budvar or Becks on tap but they're not common.

Back in my lager boy days before I discovered the wonderful stuff that is bitter (Harveys especially), I was rather partial to a pint of Holsten Export or Tennants Extra. Don't seem to find them anywhere these days. Everyone seems to go for Fosters (cooking lager) or Stella (wife beater). Only one I would really consider these days is Kronenberg 1664.

The Germans seem to go for regional beers, I suppose a bit like the UK in some respects, Bitburger is pretty good as is Berliner Kindl.
