For acting ability Man on the Moon and The Truman Show. I also liked Cable Guy which was one of his best.

The snowball fight in dumber & dumber makes me cry everytime. As does the bit when they shoot the rare parrot/love bird.
The Truman show is class & quite poignant.
Me,myself & Irene makes me cry when he takes a dump in his neighbours garden.................
