How much you wanna spend? How big is his music/film collection? The new iPod nano is available for £115, and has a camera and other little widgets that are fun enough.

This is absolutely the link for you:

Apple let us down a bit yesterday (thread is on here somewhere) with very little updates to the iPod Touch, principally no camera.

The Nano is undoubtedly a nice piece of kit, but if I were buying I'd still go for the Touch, The 8gb is now down to £149, but go bigger if funds stretch.

Good screen for watching video content and the apps, particularly games, are a revelation for gaming on the go.

I have the 16GB Touch and it's very good.

Enough room for my 1000 odd songs, a whole series of Futurama, lots of applications and games....and I still have plenty of room left!

You can download all sorts on the Ipod Touch, with fair few of the applications being free.

Since he clearly wants it for the coolness since Ipods have a crap sound quality then get him the touch so he can pretend its an iphone on top.

Ipod Touch, I love it ! I have the 16 Gig, when I can get it off my missus who keeps playing me games I have downloaded on it!

I have loads of songs and also about 8 Full Movies and loads of applications!

Great to watch movies, especially when travelling!

If you get a Touch, get the black leather pouch and plastic screen protection.

If I take mine out its case, it could be brand new still 12 months after purchase!

Just a tip!

Another vote for the ipod touch, I got the 16gb version and it's the best bit of kit I ever bought.

How old is your son? We have a red Nano (£105 or something) and its fab, enough room for my running tracks, and all the episodes of the shows he likes to watch...

If he has lots of music, or wants lots of films on there, you need to be aware that the memory on the ipod touch is currently limited to 64gb. The ipod classic (also plays video, but on a smaller screen) goes up to 160gb, giving you plenty of room for your entire music collection, a decent library of films, and still leaves space to use as an external memory drive for your laptop.

I use mine soley for music and went for a robust no-frills classic when I needed a new one a while back.

I got the missus a nano for her birthday and you can get it engraved if you buy it from Apple. A nice touch.
