Belkin Wireless Router - help needed

Just had one of these put in... works alright...... until it crashes and breaks the connection. Have to pull the power lead out, wait 30 secs and plug back in... wouldn't mind doing that every so often but surely 10 times a day means there's a fault?


Any advice!?

Firmware upgrade it first, then bring it back if that doesn't fix it as it'll be a hardware fault or unfixed software one then.

We got a Netgear one a few months back - loads of problems but once finally up and running no problem since.

I got so far with the firmware update for the model (f5d7320,) but it downloaded a bin attachment with no clue as to what would run it...

There'll be a firmware uploader on belkin's site too. You're meant to be connected by a hardline (cable) rather than wireless to the router to do the flashing.

If you don't know how to do it, it might be best not to as it can go horribly wrong.

Why dont you just ring Belkin on their free technical helpline. They offer just about the best support in the business.

My wireless router used to crash I was told to download free Network Stumbler (http://stumbler.net) this would show you who else within your area was also using wireless and what Channel they were using. They said you will find someone close by is using the same channel and they were right so I changed channel and never had a problem since but do keep an eye with netstumbler that no one else uses the same channel.

You never managed to get a connection with ANY wireless router? Have you thought that might be entirely your fault and not Belkin's then?

I'll say it again - Belkin have a free 24hr technical helpline which is excellent at getting you fixed.

I have just one other than mine and it doesn't interfere.

Also have you locked yours so no-one else can use or abuse it?

No other networks present... i think it's locked but will check when I get home thanks
