It's been a good few years since a Beaver thread has seen the first page of the Main Board.

Beavers are native in London again for the first time in 400 years

Beavers are being brought back to London for the first time in more than 400 years to help restore nature and river habitat and reduce the risk of flooding. A male and female beaver, both two years old, are being released into a specially designed enclosure in the grounds of Forty Hall Farm in Enfield, north London, today in a project by Enfield Council and Capel Manor College

Two beavers from Scotland were introduced to the Knepp Estate near Horsham, but one escaped. He was called Bramber because he loved swimming up and down the Adur near Bramber. He was recaptured but sadly died.

Seems to have been a bit peckish!

It was only in 2020 that HMG gave the Dorset beavers a reprieve (they had previously wanted them culled / removed) but at last it seems that the benefits they bring have been recognised. Huzzah say I.

Has anyone come across a Beaver in Sussex before?

Wouldn’t it fantastic if a population or two were introduced? We have some fantastic rivers and streams in this county.

Hopefully, the day where you can simply grab a pair of bins, shuffle off into to the countryside, hide behind some scrub and stare at Beaver for hours on end is not in the too distant future.
