1144 FOOTBALL: BBC South West understands that acting chairman Peter Ridsdale is to step down from his involvement with Plymouth Argyle.

BBC Sport - Peter Ridsdale to leave Plymouth Argyle

The BBC understands that Peter Ridsdale is to step down from involvement with Plymouth Argyle.

The club's acting chairman has been running affairs at Home Park since the club went into administration in March.

The former Leeds United chairman was brought in by the club as an advisor in December having been in talks with the club since November.

He has since been trying to find a buyer for the club and sacked Peter Reid as manager last week.

The guy is a grade A CJTC!

God help his next victims. Good news for PAFC though.

Sacking Reidy was his last major contribution to the club and shows what kinda man he is.

I am sure that Mr Risdale is "A fit and proper person" :) It is stunningly amazing to think that someone who has driven two clubs into the ground get the opportunity to "Help" Plymouth. Is he Bellotti's cousin?

That's great news! I wonder which set of lucky supporters will have the pleasure of spotting Peter 'Mothman' Ridsdale flying about in the floodlights? What's the betting the bastard has his bank account filled to the brim again with even more ill-gotten'??

Stupid typo. Don't they check these things? How hard is it to spell 'ruining'?

Is that leave in the same way Archer said he'd "leave" Brighton and then hang on for 3 years or whatever it was?

Take it with a pinch of salt - it's ironic that this has been announced before the games tonight and tomorrow.

The guy is just a slime bucket and it shouldn't be believed until he has actually gone.

Exactly, every club he's left seems to be in worse shape than when he joined, how does he do it ?

My understanding (could be wrong though) was that both of the major consortia interested in bidding for the club wanted him to remain on as chairman - I seem to remember under one bid (which has now fallen through?) he was to buy the 'football assets' but even the other one I thought wanted him to stay chairman. What are the implications for those bids now?

I think I read that the new bidder that looks to be buying the club(Brent) had initially planned to keep PR on as chairman (being paid a salary) but has been urged by the fans to ditch him, might suggest that the takeover is nearly complete.

I'd like to think that they are now taking what the Plymouth fans have been saying very seriously indeed.
