As Villa are my adopted second team I'm disappointed by Gareth here. He said he would only leave Villa for Champs League football, he really didn't strike me as the type to go purely for the £££s.

Hes been at Villa for over 11 years...hardly a mercinary going for the money.
None of the top 4 wanted him really, Liverpool cooled there intrerest despite the 8 million bid, and who knows...i bet he would have ended up playing left back for them....

Probably had some big promises regarding other players coming also.

Its safe to assume that City will have more chance than Villa of cracking the top 4 in the next few years.
