He was sat in the away end, 3 year banning order and about 200 quid in fines. f*** it, lifetime ban. Why tolerate it? He isn't going to change, he's 30.

Continually shouting homophobic abuse throughout a game at both players & fans results in him having to pay fines of £225. Doesnt really feel like a punishment that will sit on his conscience long enough to make him stop doing it.
Tell you what, there’s not much gets past them. Top police work.

I have heard of people having quite drastic changes of view in this regard surprisingly late in life.
Normally as result of something quite dramatic, like a child of theirs who turned out to be homosexual, rather than a £200 fine.

They say that, but then are pleased when court convictions occur. Strange.
The story in The Argus said he was in the away end, didn’t mention the team he supports though.

I wondered why HWT thought it necessary to mention the guy's trade in his opening sentence.

No, I was referring to the impact the sentence will have on him. The implication (from the bricklayers I know, and I know bricklayers) is that he is probably not awash with cash, so the sentence will be impactful.
It is only the likes of Jonathan Aitkin who can spend a leisurely couple of years behind bars, helping the more challenged inmates write to their loved ones, brush up on their Italian, then, bright eyed and bushy tailed, set up a charity after discharge.
