A few odd snippets gleamed from the FOOTBALL LEAGUE, which might interest some of you ... especially as Brighton get several mentions.


Here goes:


High figures

- Highest average attendance was West Ham United, followed by Southampton and Derby County


- Highest in npower League 1 was Sheffield Wednesday, followed by Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic


- Highest average in npower League 2 was Bradford City, followed by Swindon Town and Oxford United


- Nine clubs averaged over 20,000 attendees per match


- Six clubs achieved at least one match attendance higher than 30,000 last season - Derby County, Leeds United, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton and West Ham United


- The highest attendance for a single League match last season was 38,082 (Sheffield Wednesday v. Wycombe Wanderers on the 16th May 2012 in npower League 1 - incredible for a third tier side!)


- The biggest growth in attendances was seen at Brighton & Hove Albion (+186%) following their move to their new stadium. Hartlepool United (+68%) saw the second biggest growth after their season ticket promotion, with Peterborough United (+41%) third


- Brighton & Hove Albion had the highest occupancy rate (97%). AFC Bournemouth (70%) had the highest in npower League 1, and AFC Wimbledon (83%) in npower League 2




Season Ticket Holders

- The average number of season ticket holders per club rose last season, with 12,076 in the Championship, 4,329 in League 1 and 2,292 in League 2


- Most number of season ticket holders was 19,308 at West Ham United


- Hartlepool United had the biggest growth in season ticket holders (+302%), followed by Brighton (+246%) and Chesterfield (+57%)


- The average crowd proportion of season ticket holders was 63%. Hartlepool United had the highest proportion, followed by Cardiff City





Away Fans

- The average number of away fans at games was 817, a 10% increase


- Average away fans at npower Championship games was 1,332, in npower League 1 it was 698 and in npower League 2, 421


- The biggest average away following at games was for Leeds United (2,896), followed by West Ham United (2,792). Sheffield Wednesday (2,436) had the highest average following in npower League 1 and Swindon Town (893) in npower League 2


- Sheffield United (+140%) saw the biggest increase in travelling fans, followed by Swindon Town (+76%), Torquay United (+74%) and Cheltenham Town (+72%)


- Bury had the biggest away following as a proportion of fans that attend home games (17.9%). The highest in the npower Championship was Peterborough United (15.3%) and in npower League 2 it was Torquay United (16.8%)


- Highest recorded number of away fans at an individual match was 6,254 (Coventry City v. West Ham United, 1st December 2011)


- Peterborough United's London Road was the most popular ground for npower Championship fans to visit (1,971 visiting fans on average).
Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough was most visited in npower League 1 (average of 1,062 visitors per match) and Macclesfield Town's Moss Rose was the most popular away trip in npower League 2 (an average of 548 visiting fans)

The single most interesting figure in there is the 'most popular ground in the Championship for fans to visit' - Peterborough, the only one with a terrace. Which is going. Shame.

True, but it's more because it's in the middle of the country, i think Coventry was a close second.
