Nicky Forster has revealed the immediate impact Gus Poyet has had on the Albion squad.

The 41-year-old Uruguayan took charge of his first training session with the Seagulls yesterday morning.

Before they started, Poyet introduced himself to each player individually before offering a rallying speech to the group.

Club captain Forster said: “He sat all the players down, the youth team and the staff and chatted to us for about 15 minutes. The content of what he said was very encouraging.

“He came across very well and the players bought into this straightaway. We are all quite enthusiastic.

“The way he plays football is quite free and there is an aura about him.

“He is someone who has played at the top and done very well out of the game. He commands that level of respect and knows the game inside out. He is qualified up to the highest and is someone we can all learn from.”

Forster revealed Poyet has made it clear he will not leave players in the dark about his decisions.

The nine-goal striker said: “He is keen to have a rapport with the players, not just the senior ones. He said his door is always open to speak to people at any time and about anything.

“He said he will always give honesty, which is a good thing because very often players get left out and they want to know why. Even if they don’t agree with it they want a manager just to tell them and he has said he will do that, whether they like it or not.”

Without wishing to knock anything he said pretty sure the same would have been said about any manager who came in. The same lines get trotted out whenever a new bloke arrives

:lolol:

Let's hope so. I imagine the possibility of being mildly disapproved of by a third division centre-half with a propensity to blast even his most of delicate passes into the nature reserve is keeping Gus Poyet awake at night at the moment.

Based on what evidence? f*** me I thought I was a miserable ****.
