From the complete lack of noise or movement detectable from the other side of the pitch from my seat in H Block, I conclude that there must have been about a thousand cardboard cutouts propped up in the west end of the North Stand.

Either that or they were folk who'd died of exposure (or boredom) during the Port Vale game and they've simply been left there to give the impression that the ground was full.
