I loved his mushroom hunts in particular, but also his genuine enthusiasm for Italian life and food.

Blimey I'm shocked at that news.
A gentle giant of the cooking world.
Signed a book for us at the GFS a few years back

Meet him once in the New Forest whilst I was a'foraging. Certainly knew his mushies and he was a great help in preventing me killing the missus. I always get her to taste the ones I'm not sure of and then sit back a wait for the effects before putting mine on toast and eating. A real gentleman and RIP Antonio

He was due at Kingston Bentalls for a book signing this evening.

Seen him before in Windsor and he was very approachable.
