Aston Villa's Herd - following on from the Rodwell incident recently what was the assistant looking at?
I am not sure that it wasnt a red card according to the laws of the game, as he attempted to free his leg and in so doing stamped on the WBA player. If more refs and linos did this perhaps the players would untangle themsleves quicker and cleaner in the future. Agree the Hutton incident was a definite red card or should have been. Because he was booked the FA cannot do anything about it now in retrospect.
Bosingwa sent off for Chelsea, another weird decision.
That was red as Bosingwa was shirt pulling not SWP and he pulled him to the ground when a one on one at goal.
And Drogba now red carded
Well, the red should have only been shown for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. It didn't look to me like SWP had possession of the ball, so it couldn't have been a clear goal scoring opportunity, could it?
Drogba's was a red.

In a sense, I agree with Roy Hodgson's view as expressed on MOTD last night - the Herd incident was never a sending off, but Villa as a team did deserve to play out the game with 10 men after Hutton's initial challenge on Long.

I thought RH agreed with the decision. He then went on to say he had no sympathy over Villa's objections because Hutton should have gone earlier!
The red card has been rescinded. Bitter sweet for Villa.
