Well boxed young man - guaranteed a silver but go for gold.

Surely we could have had more than one boxer at the Olympics ?

Dont know why he only just got in but thats what Audrey Harrison said on TalkSport the other day.

Cos he was aiming for the 2008 Olympics, he thought he might be too young/inexperienced

Did I also hear that he's too young to turn professional at the moment if he so wished?

I think he can go professional but I understand a consortium has put up £2m for him to stay amateur for Beijing.

I reckon 4 more years is worth it as well.

yeah give him 4 years. if he works on his defence and gets that up to scratch then wow!! what a fighter. must admit he had me worried in the second but after that he was brilliant

he was brilliant tonight. a bit of a slow start but kept his head, the judges seemed to be quite anti scoring on our half, but after a while it became quite clear that we were gonna win!!

Well done Amir!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Brilliant for a 17 year old to get this far. The question about lack of British boxers puzzles me as well - I thought boxing was one sport we could excel in.

Bloody Magic. If he gets the gold (and it's a big if) for me it will be the most satisfying gold since Ovett beat Coe in the 800 (somewhat tempered by the 1500 a few days later)

I am so glad we have a real star from these Olympics - this guy has a magnificent future ahead and the Olympics are all about a platform to go forward.

It is amazing to see a great home grown star.

He's done us proud, whatever he does on Sunday is irrelevant IMHO.

What a star.

Great bout to watch.

The guy from Kaz took the game to Amir but you could see that he was breathing heavily at the end of the first round. The British camp knew that the other guy would tire, and sure enough in the third round Amir turned it around.

Top Stuff!

It still surprises me that we only managed to produce one boxer for 2004 Olympics, given our boxing pedigree. This guy was brilliant and a credit to the sport of boxing. At 17 the world is his oyster, hope he doesn't resemble in any way Prince Naseeem Hamed. Amir Khan appears to be a level-headed young man and full respect to him. Gold on Sunday please.
