If we battle relegation all season next year (or even go back down) and continue to struggle the season after, we will NOT be anywhere close to selling out. 22k is fine for the moment. Patience my friend.

I would honestly rather have a packed out 22.5k stadium than a 30k stadium with 25k in it - it looks better and creates a better atmo - empty seats are horrible!
Also as others have said let's not run before we can walk - the 2nd season at Falmer will be a key one - ie what % of ST holders renew!

Should we not be (more than) happy that we will have a gate, potentially and likely to prove, up to three times the current attendance whilst we no longer have to pay RENT.
The Club is not at all daft and, far from it, has obviously seen the opportunities for revenue (hooray) hence the corporate, private functional opportunities now offered. Obviously, considering that there are no (or extremely) limited alternatives, they sell all the beer and all the pies whatever else albeit perhaps on a franchise basis, I have no inside knowledge but appears to me that our club is in very safe hands.
I say we are going to do extremely well compared with other clubs who will struggle to fill their stadia, which on the aforesaid and the basis of our take up of apparently 16500 season tickets should result in easier planning for our accountants.

Just a thought, and I take on board the walking before running analogy, but if we get into the Premiership, I wonder what effect it will have on ST prices. I can't see them staying at these prices, and using Fulham as a comparison, by way of similar capacities, the price jump might be quite steep

That is a point, if we do get into the Prem is 22500 enough? It's enough for Championship level obviously, just a thought.
If we got to the Prem then we would need to expand. We could get gates of 25k+ in the prem.

We go from a dilapidated athletics track, to the cream of the football league stadia, and people make daft threads like this. Does the original poster think that capacity and the future were not thought about before committing one hundred million to build us a new home? I am in agreement with those who would rather be in a full lesser capacity stadium, than be rattling around a half empty 60,000 capacity ground. As has been said, this season will not be a proper measure of attendance. There will be people that do not renew their ST because they just wanted to be part of something new. There will be the glory hunters that will stay all the time we are doing well, but who vanish when we hit a bad patch. So let's just enjoy the fact that we have finally properly come home, something a lot of couldn't even dream of 14 years ago.
This. Remember attendances are likely to fall away a bit after the first coiuple of years. It's going to be great, but I wouldn't want to rush into expanding and end up rattling around, even with 18-19k (which would be optimistic anyway in 5 years time)...

In terms of a ratio of seats available to seats sold Norwich seem to be miles ahead of everyone and we should be very close to them assuming that we are granted full capacity by the H&S gestapo
