That's sad and a sign of the times if those stadiums will be allowed to use those company names in association with the World Cup. I don't think that will happen.
I've heard they are also looking to franchise 3 or 4 of the games to be played in the UK.

This comes from someone who supports a club that wears the emblem of a company on the front of the shirt of the kit of that said club. What is the big deal if they use the name of a company on the stadiums? The name on some stadiums that go back 100 years have been company names. Ask Barry Izbak what the name on the baseball stadium in St Louis has been for over 70 years. The name on the Cubs baseball stadium has been Wrigley, a chewing gum company, for over 70 years.

With the world on the verge of WW3 this is the news the world really needs right now.

We can now relax safe in the knowledge of which stadiums will be hosting fifa's well thought out, much needed and definitely not a vanity project/money grab tournament.

I for one am PUMPED for it and cannot wait to see who will come out on top of whatever the format is.

If players really care about having to many games they will group together and agree not to play so all of the teams will have to field youth teams players

But then of course they remember their bank accounts...............................................

Who else opened this thread and initially thought they were reading about the World Cup rather than the additional tournament (World Club) that no one is interested in?
*Holds up hand*

...and I carried on thinking it until your post made me read the thread title more closely!

At first I thought the OP was getting a bit of unwarranted stick, but yes, I'm going to join in now ...

Who gives a shit? Stupid load of corporate bollocks designed by FIFA just because they're jealous of UEFA. Hope it's a colossal failure and/or the players go on strike.

Why wouldn't they be called by stadium / sponsored company name?

I'm pretty sure the Amex kept the same name for the rugby world cup games.

Nope - it was known as the Brighton Community Stadium.
Glad to be proven wrong. I thought I remembered reading articles referencing it as the Amex.

I can't see Americans going for the <Insert City> Community Stadium. It sounds far too communist for the yanks.
