SUNNY SEAFORD
Just seems weird that they provided the manager with funds to get them promoted, then bottled out.

Lewes have got bottom placed Woking up next (Tuesday 2nd September). Get beat there and it's more or less terminal. They'll finish bottom. KK is the fall guy, but the board of property developers WANT the team to fail so they can get a clear run for their main agenda; their pet Active Lewes project and all the spin-off building contracts. The worse the club do, the more the board like it. Wretched state of affairs. Gotta feel sorry for the fans. Only glimmer of hope is that the Supporters Trust will provide a platform to thwart the board's plans to gain control of the lease to the Dripping Pan and that the board lose interest and piss off. Then the club can regain some kind of ambition led by people with the club's best interests at heart, rather than an eye for the value of the land the football club is built on. No matter how they dress it up.

I don't see it like that.

Active Lewes will only happen with the backing of ALL of the major sports clubs in Lewes. The two cricket clubs, the hockey/tennis club and the athletics club will never buy into a project that is dominated by the football club. It is a partnership scheme or nothing.

Martin Elliott has run out of money to continue backing the football club's success. So he has turned to the Kevin Keehan solution, which is obviously doomed to failure.

When the football club fails, it will be Martin Elliott's failure. And - as the major advocate for Active Lewes - he will find that Active Lewes has failed as well.

Well, that's one reading of the situation. Tho IMHO the perfect outcome for Martin Elliott this season would be that Lewes finish bottom, crowds are down to double figures and he's secured the freehold to the Dripping Pan.

Thankfully, there are far too many influential folk in Lewes who will stop that happening - not the least of whom are the driving forces behind the other Lewes sports clubs.
