Albion’s development squad are through to the last eight of the Sussex Senior Cup.
But the holders were forced to work hard before beating ten-man Eastbourne Borough 1-0 at Lancing tonight.
Brennan Dickenson scored the only goal on the half hour when his intended cross from the left touchline floated over goalkeeper Craig Ross and inside the far post.
Borough’s Chris Shephard was shown a straight red card by referee Dave Phillips seven minutes later for foul and abusive language.
But the Conference south side remained an intermittent threat and were kept in the game by Adam Watts’ terrific second-half clearance just in front of goal to deny lively new boy Jeffrey Monakana.
Ssub Darren Lok was close to forcing extra-time when he seemed to touch Frankie Raymond’s free-kick narrowly wide.
