Albion's lead over the bottom three has been cut to seven points tonight - thanks to one of their former players.
But the Seagulls have extended their advantage over next opponents Millwall to ten points by drawing 1-1 with Wolves.
Seagulls keepers past and present David Stockdale and Tomasz Kuszczak were in the spotlight at the Amex.
Meanwhile Ali Al-Habsi, who had one game on loan between the sticks for Albion this season, breathed new life into Wigan's survival hopes.
His brilliant double save very late on secured a precious 2-1 win at Rotherham.
Jermaine Pennant converted two almost identical free-kicks in the first half to put Wigan in charge.
Matt Derbyshire replied with a header right on half-time for the Millers.
It was not all good news for the Latics.
They lost James McClean for the next two matches as he received a tenth booking of the season, for dissent.
Millwall were beaten by an Adam Le Fondre double as they went down 2-0 in Bolton in Neil Harris's first game in charge.

But it was an improved display by the Lions, who created several chances.
Le Fondre scored on 12 and 44 minutes.
Fulham are among the clubs in Wigan's sights.
The Cottagers are six points clear of the drop zone after drawing 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday.
Stevie May headed home for the Owls in the 55th minute from Lewis McGugan's cross.
Matt Smith levelled from close range 20 minutes later, his second goal in as many games.
