Good stuff - loads of running race organsiers doing this as well - 'Trees for Tees' (plant a tree instead of getting yet another race t-shirt at the end).
I always think the race t-shirt is a double edged sword anyway.
On the one hand, I show off to everybody that I ran a marathon, and am therefore superior to them in every way. On the other hand it does tend to emphasise just how much fatter I am now than I was when that happened.

I did ask for a Medium at the end of one race.......RD looked and said 'I'll give you a Large, just in case like.........'.

I’ve just gone for the 5 trees option and would advocate this.
I buy membership because I want preferential treatment for away tickets and don’t need a ‘pack’.
Supports the environment and our three fantastic Ecuadorean players.
