Albion are interested in signing the experienced Wilson Palacios from Stoke to beef up the centre of their midfield, according to a report in Honduras.
Stoke have been trying to offload Palacios, who has made only 38 appearances for them since a £6 million move from Spurs in August 2011.
The 30-year-old is reportedly on £35,000-a-week at the Britannia Stadium, so luring Palacios on loan is the likely option for the Seagulls.
New Albion boss Chris Hughton has emphasised his desire to add more experience in the centre of the park by making several references to a young midfield.
Palacios played for Honduras in the World Cup but has been a peripheral figure at Stoke under both Tony Pulis and now Mark Hughes.
Albion have already been linked with Leeds United's out-of-favour Jamaican midfielder Rodolph Austin.
