Albion moved closer to Championship safety today as Millwall and Rotherham both lost 2-0 to two of the clubs chasing automatic promotion.
Millwall were beaten at home by Watford to goals in each half by Matej Vydra and Adlene Guedioura.
Rotherham could not build on Monday's 1-0 win against Albion, second half goals by Lee Tomlin and Patrick Bamford maintaining Boro's top two aspirations.
Millwall remain nine points adrift of Albion with a game in hand and Rotherham two points adrift from the same number of games.
The Seagulls will be safe by virtue of their superior goal difference if they beat Huddersfield in their penultimate home game at the Amex on Tuesday and Millwall lose at home to Wigan.
Albion visit Wigan next Saturday and entertain Watford in their final home game of the season in front of the Sky cameras on April 25 before a closing trip to Boro.
