Come Holland and Russia! Mind you, we'll have to watch out for that Welsh international full-back when we play Grimsby again! Used to support them until I found out how much they dislike us.

A sad night for European football as the Welsh fail in their own back yard and the Scots get hammered for six. These giants of football once again miss out, how will the European Championship survive with out them.

Well done to the minnows from Holland and Russia for their unexpected victories against the mighty British nations.

It's nice to know that the jolly sporting Jocks and Taffys will, following their suprise exit, now wholeheartedly support the only surving Brit team in the finals.

Come on England!

Listening to all of the Welsh fans on TalkSport (I know already), they were givin' it large about how the 70 odd thousand Welsh voices would cause the Russians to shit themselves and Wales would cruise into the Finals.:shootself

Suicidal to come out with shit like that before a big game 'cos it nearly always comes back to haunt you. I feel sorry for them. Actually, come to think of it, I f***ing well don't at all.

Failed in Wales, Failed in Wales...:lolol:

Watching the Wales - Russia game, it gradually dawned on me that what I was watching was a losing performance by a side that was playing so like the Albion that they could have been wearing blue and white stripes.

Some promising talent, a hatful of unlucky close chances, but no killer instinct or game plan that was capable of breaking down the organised defence of a team that had gone one-nil up, following a crass bit of play by one individual.

Great support, though.

Tough luck, Wales. You'll get somewhere sometime, no doubt.

I was watching the Wales game in a pub, and the more £1 drinks I had, the more I wanted Wales to win.

They should have won that, but they failed to score in 180 minutes.

It is a shame that great players like Ryan Giggs and, err, err, just Ryan Giggs will never get to play in a major tournament.

If Savage had not let his hair get under his feet he could have scored one of the best goals of all time and all of Wales would be celebrating......:jester:

Wales lost and on the night they looked exactly what they are - a team of journeyman pros and Ryan Giggs. I'm actually a bit disappointed, I know they hate us but that's no excuse for hating them in return. I wanted them to win because they were the underdogs. Scotland I, er, wanted to 'play well'. Not sure I wanted them to win because we'd never hear the end of it but I didn't really want to see them so badly humiliated.

I've just got back from Wales, bloody 4.30 train from Cardiff. It's a very sad city.

Not sure about the great support - the crowd seemed very subdued to me, it's much noisier at rugby matches. The 700 Russians were making lots of racket (and the 30 sat behind me were particularly vocal). No sign of trouble though, much friendlier atmosphere than for England internationals.

Chwarae teg to the Russians though - they were superbly well-organised and showed great technique. Really disappointed with Hartson, he looked like a 2nd division forward. Speed and Giggs looked a class above the rest of the team.

Still, good drinking afterwards in the Belgian bar opposite the ground.

Was hoping that Scotland and Wales would have made it to the finals but guess it wasn't to be.

BTW, can we nail this Giggs playing for England lark. He was born in Wales to Welsh parents - there was no way that he could play for England, even if he wanted to. He played for England schoolboys because he went to school in England (and that's how schoolboy internationals are picked). Now, if only Michael Owen had chosen to play for Wales :)

Not a lot of happy bunnies up here...although people might cheer up if the news came through that Van Nistelrooooooy damaged a fetlock scoring his third goal and had to be destroyed.

I thought it interesting that the Welsh crowd uniformly booed the Russian national anthem and nobody said a thing. Scottish and Turkish fans do the same, as do pretty much every eastern European country.

Yet when England fans boo or whistle anyone's anthem, it's racist, pathetic, unsporting etc.

Funny that.
