Why did we go back to playing him at CB after he was our top scorer in the Championship?

Mediocre defender but 8 goals in 38 games in the Championship in his first season as a striker....

if only we had gone back to playing him as CB, maybe his career wouldnt have gone so wrong. Adams played him in just about every position, chosing Hawkins over Virgo at the back, first in midfield (could have worked if given long enough?) then on the wing, where ever it took to fit him into the side. shame, as he was a good defender, just never settled back into it.

Is the correct answer. When Adams started playing him at right wing was the moment I knew Adams was on borrowed time - Shoe-horning Virgo is wherever possible to avoid dropping him. Madness.
