Adam Virgo - top bloke, future captain?

I don't know if anyone else heard him in the SCR Harty phone in, but I was well impressed with his spirit, determination and fired up positive attitude - if this is anything to go by, we will stay up, without doubt. Considering his recent problems, making what for me was an inspirational response to today's result, he showed qualities that could be right for a future club captain. Well done Adam. :clap2:

I think you will find that ALL of the players are determined to stay up, (considering some their futures depend on it too) Some are saying the players need a kick up the arse but that isnt the case. They are working hard in training and MM wouldnt put up with anything less than 110%. They are all trying to make the best of a bad lot at the moment, injuries, red cards, shit referees, dodgy penalties, its all gone against them lately. Get behind them and Keep em going!!

We battled as well as ever today given our limitations, however a special mention should be given to Adam Virgo for chasing every lost cause, hoofed clearance and he every time a Cov defender had the ball he was sliding in to try to win the ball off them. Thoroughly deserved to score a goal and did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Yep, Virgo is the captain in waiting. He has all the qualities needed, eg: battling qualities, versitile, passionate, plus a touch articulate as well......

Virgo is the epitome of everything Albion - battling against the odds but never ever giving up. I sure hope no-one puts in an offer for him in the close season.

I can (part) verify too ....
Waiting for players to get back on the coach after the game (friends lad wanted Blayney and Dolan autographs) had a brief chat with Vigs and I quote [his words] "We will NOT go down". Also MaCammon had said the same thing moments earlier

The players have the belief - which is expected, but also a good/positive sign - arse kicking is not always the answer.

Best player this season without a doubt, shows so much passion for the team and as a Sussex-born lad I couldn't think of a more suited ambassador for the team, maybe his discipline could be clamped down on too though.

Agree with all of the above .... but
If he has one weakness that he needs to improve to be Skipper material, it's his disciplinary record/attitude.
e.g. his "fight" at WHU - as a role model, I recall the way Cullip reacted in the 1st Arsenal FA cup tie [Vs Sheffield Utd] he was self-controlled/restrained.
I hope it will come to Virgs with age/experience.

FUTURE captain is right.

I think he still has to channel some of his fury / aggression yet. Has got booked this season a couple of times for some silly things. He just needs to sort that out.

I did admire one point today when their left back took a throw to Steve Staunton, and Virgo slid in and puts Staunton and the ball into touch. Coventry throw. The left back does exactly the same thing, and Virgo clatters Staunton and ball into touch again. Coventry throw.

Third time, Staunton moves away, and Virgo is clearly gesturing to their left-back 'go on, throw it to him again...'
