He is innocent of any crimes against our state and we cannot send him to Jordan after their open torture policy in gaining evidence and our signing up to ALL the rulings of the European convention. Who's bloody fishing ?

In case you aren't fishing (I suspect you might be) but here is a response.

He is wanted for crimes back in Jordan, surely he should face justice in his home country for this? For example what was your opinion on Ronnie Biggs? Did you want him back in the UK to serve justice when he absconded?

The difference between us and Jordan is that although our justice system is often found lacking, we don't obtain confessions or other information by torture. That is the key reason Qatada was not deported to face trial in Jordan. Ronnie Biggs shouldn't have been deported back here IF we relied on the same methods.

Did we change our legal constitution though to that of a country that had previously openly admitted to torture to get Biggs back ?
The Jordanian General Intelligence Department have been guilty of some of the worst cases of torture according to Amnesty International and Islamic detainees are often deprived of legal representation and held for unwarranted lengths of pre trial periods.

I was walking past the war memorial at the Old Steine in Brighton yesterday, just a little after the ceremony, and thought to myself of all the people who had died in upholding the British tradition of freedom and free speech. Without taking sides on any current situations, it is worth noting the ethos that we have as a nation, and the price we pay/have paid to perpetuate it. As the old saying goes, 'I disagree vehemently with what you say, but will fight to the death to let you say it...'

So by that method we shouldn't deport anyone to the USA?

In my opinion Qatada HAS to face justice no matter what the consequences.

See my other comment, which I just posted , but really It has to be right that a suspected terrorist should face justice!

I wondered how long before Voltaire was quoted. Well you can stick any Dean Martin song up your arse as far as I am concerned.

I couldn't care if he was beheaded. He's a Muslim extremist and has done crimes in HIs OWN COUNTRY and not a British citizen. He gets the death penality then so be it, I'll not lose any sleep and go about my 8 till 5 job paying my taxes.

Cases are taken on an individual basis. I disagree with any system whereby people can be held indefinitely without charge so, yes-in the case of terrorism, I don't think we should deport people to the US unless they are ready to charge.

It's funny how people say our legal system should be more like America. How would they like the Isle of White being turned into a military camp where people are held indefinitely??

Let us imagine, entirely hypothetical you understand, you had been on holiday to say Dubai or Saudi Arabia. You were accused of theft (wrongly) but were bailed and allowed to return to the UK. The same laws that stopped Qatada being deported back to Jordan would stop you being extradited to either country to have your hand cut off!!

Amended your quote-he has been accused, not found guilty of any offences in his home country.

Don't edit my post. He's a Muslim extremist and is wanted in his homeland. I couldn't give a flying f*** what they do with the big fat spounging of the British people. Stick him on the next plane and if his final destination is death then so be it.
