I doubt that he was as he is a centre mid while Poyet said he wanted a replacement for Lua Lua. Just because our name was mentioned don't mean he was the 'special one'. Doubt it was Ramsey either

but that doesn't mean he was the 'special one' that Poyet was on about. He might have been a player we made enquiries but he would never have been a replacement for Lua Lua

That's a fair point - Poyet did say he was looking at several options, so maybe he was one of the others.
