Interesting to read a neutral review of the game. from Spain's Marca (a SHIT paper), I put it through one of those translation things cos i ain't doing it.

France were lucky, our defence like everest and rocklike (not rocky as the translation says).

we'll be ok.

They remember the Spain-Yugoslavia of the last Eurocopa, of the Manchester-Bayern of Barcelona? Then stories of children compared with the sight in the stage the Light of Lisbon. We go, that until the scripts of Oliver and Benji was more credible. France did not have a single occasion of goal in the prescribed time. Henry was unfortunate and Zidane nor existed. England, with a defense that seemed the Everest, until allowed the luxury to fail to take advantage of penalti. All normal one until minute 90.

The three rest are for the history of soccer. Heskey made a lack in prohibited zone and Zidane did not pardon. The wood was so great that Gerrard removed the dagger and the ' harakirí in name became of its companions. Its cession finished in the boots of Henry and the demolition of James was dazzling. The terrible suposo error the two to one - Zidane transformed penalti -, a so unjust result with England as just with the épica of soccer.

By means it was left a drip of ' cadáveres'. A great party was had a feeling and everything was in great ' apagón'. Neither Owen, nor Beckham, nor Henry, nor Zidane... We go, that Lampard had all the problems to be named player of the party.

It returns ' Zizoú
France without Zidane is not France. The madridista distributes, invents and gives sense to Gallic soccer. His ' ausentismó ended up infecting to its companions, who facilitated the work to the rocky English defense. To try to beat to James hanging balls is little less than a chimera. So England felt strong and made use of its two better arms: the aerial game and the speed of its ends.

In a lack hurled by Beckham the first one arrived as much. Lampard surpassed to the Gallic power stations and pitching to the meshes without remission. Strike to say that it was the first English occasion, in fact first of the party, because France fell in the trap tended by Eriksson.

Beckham pardons
The second part adjusted to the script anticipated by the Swedish technician. France followed clogged and without ideas, with aggravating of which now it risked more in defense. In one of these, Rooney ' robbed to him will carterá it to Thuram and lined up the French goal to finish demolished by Wild. Penalti, unquestionable, failed Beckham. Or it stopped Barthez, that stops the case is the same.

But the panorama did not change. Vassell almost marks three minutes later with a powerful firing that hurled bad and ended up crashing in the face of Barthez. The set of Santini seemed resigned to its luck and if its hand when clearing did not have forces nor to demand than more probable penalti of Neville nothing else to begin the second part - a center of Henry is as clear as unnecessary its end of party cleared the ridiculous situation.

But then it happened what it happened. That the Nile changed its course, Mars left orbit and Spain gained Eurovisión. France, present campeona, eeted again itself with the fortune, the one that to him the victory gave before Italy in the last European end and it left to him to his luck in Korea and Japan. Zidane was only the creator of the miracle. A creator who already is ' pichichí of the Portuguese match. And that that played horrible...

That's excellent - I'd guess that's close to what you'd get if you got Stewart Hall pissed on sangria.

Unusually the Irish were quite supportive. In a panel of Liam Brady, Dennis Irwin and Eamon Dunphy only Brady said we didn't deserve the win even if we did mange to get it. After the anti English stuff from the Rugby world cup panel I was pleasantly surprised.
