As in most cases, football clubs correspond with there manager, and this couldn't be more true in the case of Brighton Hove Albion and Gus Poyet. As a player, Poyet was a cultured and technically gifted midfielder, and his Brighton side were quite simply a brilliant passing side, producing one of the best displays I have seen at The Valley in all my years of watching Charlton.
Many fans are going to make the point that we were bad, and we were, but I don't think we can take away anything from Brighton. Starting with there defence, Gordon Greer is the best League One defender I've seen. Not only does he do all the things a 6ft centre half is supposed to do, be strong and win headers, his composure on the ball and bringing the ball out from the back is very impressive. He was up against Pawel Abbott, a big strong 6ft lump himself, I don't think Greer missed a single header against him. Calderon at right back is also a very tidy player, gets forward well, fits in with there passing game, and he's not a Glen Johnson, in the fact he goes forward well, but hopeless at defending.
