a relative of mine was banging on about the possibility of a european championship being held between scotland, ireland and wales.
i kept of telling him that it shouldn't be held between 3 countries, but, because he is welsh, he didn't take any notice, so i decided to throw this one open for public opinions-
do you think this could happen?

(this is to get my mind off of falmer)

Would you include the Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany, and don't forget the Galician's (kinda Celtic - sort of!)

So you might have Deportivo la Coruna and Celta Vigo in a Celtic championship?

Could have a 'Celtica Cup' - major teams from Scotland, Wales (if that's possible), Ireland, Basque Areas, Brittany, and Patagonia...

Think Celta Vigo may win it!
i reckon depor would

Sorry, don't want to be pedantic, but La Coruña is not in the Basque area, but in the Galicia area of NW Spain.

Galician is another type of latin, similar to the Portugese with the vocabulary. As the language is based on latin and not ancient celtic roots, it's not in Celtica.

At the moment all teams are happy with present arrangements in Wales, Scotland and Ireland apart from the Old Firm who want to be in the Premiership.

A Celtic League may work for rugby union, but I cannot see it working for football. Cork vs. Aberdeen? Merthyr Tydfil vs Inverness CT? I don't think so...
