Just caught this on sky sports news
Fans are rioting outside the prison after this sentence
Apparently their sentence follows the death of 74 fans last February
Another 30 fans have died following the riots outside the prison, unbelievable
And we thought Millwall were bad

A court in Egypt has given death sentences to 21 men found guilty of taking part in football violence last February. In total 73 people have been accused of taking part in the violence at a Cairo derby match in which 74 people died, mostly fans of the al-Ahly club. Families of the victims exploded with emotion in the court as the sentence was read out. The remaining 52 accused will discover their fate in March. Spectators were trampled to death in the disaster as panicked crowds tried to flee the stadium after the pitch was invaded by al-Masry fans following the final whistle. Soccer fans and families of those killed had threatened more violence if the punishments did not satisfy them. Two people died in protests at the prison where the accused are being held as families attempted to break them out. Gunfire has been reported in the vicinity.

Still very readable, don't worry about it

Imagine if they executed rioting fans in this country back in the 70s! every week would be like the stoning scene from Monty Python

" are there any women here today "

Does seem a harsh sentence though , so if we had laws like that in 70s Europe around 20 to 30 Liverpool fans would have been sentenced to death over the heysal disaster ,

All really dodgy. The police who are usually really strict did not make any effort to stop the home fans from bringing in weapons and police also locked the only door out of the away area so none of the Al-Ahly supporters could escape.. A lot of people are saying it's revenge as the Al-Ahly had been protesting heavily against the army/police in the weeks leading up to it.
