1st Test, England vs Bangladesh

England: Cook*, Carberry, Trott, Pietersen, PD Collingwood, IR Bell, MJ Prior†, SCJ Broad, GP Swann, TT Bresnan, ST Finn
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Aftab Ahmed, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan*, Mushfiqur Rahim†, Naeem Islam, Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain, Shahadat Hossain

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field.

England currently 226/2. Cook 109*, Pietersen 38*

I really cannot understand the sense behind England's team selection. Only four specialist bowlers, of whom one has doubts over his fitness, and even more depressingly than that, only one spinner (compared to Bangladesh, who have included FOUR). What exactly would the wicket have to be like for England to play two spinners?!

Team selection seems odd, especially as we will now be bowling last on a spinning pitch. I guess they assume Swann will get them all and we just need to keep it tight at the other end?

Good start with the bat though.

Wasn't it odds-on that KP would get runs - it's always the way that as soon as there's talking of dropping someone, he scores runs.

It's normally Colly or Bell, nice to see it's KP's turn

Bloody Cook slogging a six to get his hundred. He's so bloody arrogant and egotistical, he should be putting the team first

Yes.

I'm now looking forward to a couple of days of "It's only Bangladesh"

Yes, it is good to see him scoring again. It's very important to get him time in the middle now, injury free.

The last few months he really hasn't been playing well, maybe because he hasn't been fit but I think he was just playing in the wrong way. He was so determined to score himself back into form that he threw wickets away and that wasn't good for the side. I still think he needs to learn responsiblity if he really does want to be the best.

KP putting his foot down on the approach to his ton. I can see us winning this by an innings. 20 overs left today, with KP in this form, could give us a 400+ lead.
