Though the BEEB have blown this out of proportion as most are going over there with instructions etc to build / fix schools and hospitals. I think this is a conerted effort to attempt to win over the Iraqi people by actually getting something done instead of just patrolling and doing nothing that seems to have been the order of the day since the war ended.
ive made it clear from day 1 I was pro war but this is a good sign in my opinon IF they are going to build schools etc, if they are going to just 'up the security' etc, then this will cause more resentment from perhaps not the majority who are still happy to be rid of saddam, but for th minority saddam loyalists who are causing the trouble and could easily whip up anti brit etc feeling.

Millions more spent on the military presence, but still no electricity, still no working hospitals, still no adequate education system.

hence us sending troops to build this infrastructure.

I thought all the contracts for reconstruction had gone to Bush's election fund cronies? Anyway, surely our troops will be guarding the workers?

This sort of thing is what the U.N. is for. Kofi Annan should pull his thumb out of his arse and get things organised.

Why should the UN tidy up George & Tony's f*ckups? They went to war without a mandate from the UN, but when it goes tits up they expect the UN to step in and sort it out.

If the US relly beleive that they run the world then they should take the rough (this sort of stuff) with the smooth (blasting the shit out of Jonny foreigners with laser guided weapons, cluster bombs and napalm..)

Just MHO

They could help build some schools around here, laying down some decent roads and pavements and collect my rubbish regularly, since loads OF SQUADDIES come from east London, it be convenient for them
