The dual parliaments is ridiculous and a waste of money but not new news. It would be good to think that one day they will see sense and stick to one location. I haven’t read this particular article in full and can’t remember the reasons why it ended up like this in the first place but I’m not going to decide that membership should be revoked because of it. Plenty of positives that make this just a stupid waste of money and nothing more.

Not sure if this isn't at home in the big thread, but since you're here... I'm no apologist for DC but I think he had big enough balls to see that the only way to heal his party was a vote on Europe and as we all know, he, a remainer, misread the mood of the people by a few hundred thousand.

That was his mistake.

Astounding gathering. The right to march is a key part of the democratic process and one million people today marched, exercising their right to a voice. Some people seem to be under the impression that democracy reached an endpoint on the 23rd of June 2016.

The first was HILARIOUS.

Basically a lot of tweed and barbour jackets drinking on Whitehall who had sent their "staff" down for a rumble with the Police. The Police (I spoke to) were very sympathetic because they had been drafted in from fox hunting areas.

I can only describe it as "feudal".

The anti-capitalist one was completely accidental. I just happened to up there. I managed to get out the way before it all kicked off.

Usual odd mix of jugglers (why?) and people looking for a fight with the Police and Police looking for a fight with the people. The Police have got a lot better and have learnt from past experiences. Saw dogs being set on people for completely no reason, but then again I wouldn't want to be one of them and go into a situation where you are an obvious target.

I went on an anti nuclear march in 81. There were 1.5 million. It barely got half a page in the Daily Mirror. I was astounded. But that's how it is. 1.5 million marched, 15 million voted for Thatcher.

Still....great turn out today.

Thanks - hadn't seen that.

I got really scared - there were so many people gridlocked - I was worried about a Hillsborough style crush, or a terrorist attack. The police controlled the crowd very well, but it was edgy, then they closed Green Park tube - ****!

But it was an amazing day with a million engaged people, good humoured but serious.

Well we can all live in hope. You mention general elections. In 2017 Theresa May, having failed to implement most of her party's manifesto commitments of just two years earlier, simply called the whole thing off, scrapping parliament and calling a new vote in the hope of getting a mandate different to the one given to her by the people a short time before.

I would argue that this is similar in principle to the current suggestion of seeking a new mandate on the EU question, especially in view of information now available. In the light of your views regarding a further referendum, I am unsure why you are not incandescent about May's decision to abandon her 2015 mandate.

I agree with your comment on Cameron, and I’m not taking sides here, but we had a referendum and the majority, small as it was, voted to leave the E.U. Whether we like it or not it was a democratic process and we have to abide by that.

Hypothetically though, if there was another referendum and the result was the same as the original outcome what then?

I’ve always detested the folk (posh scum and their rural rent a thug workers) who fox hunt. Have had many a discussion over the years with those who justify it all because “there are too many foxes” apparently, or “because it’s a way of life that knits the countryside” together. Very aware that the Labour MP (yours) Hoey is a massive supporter of blood sports, and funnily enough Brexit. Can’t stand her. Pleased the law was passed, but Blair’s heart wasn’t in it and it was watered down with the following a scent copout. In reality, the law is ignored, with friendly coppers turning a blind eye, and some observers very badly injured by the rural thugs.

I wonder if a Corbyn government would crush the cruel sport?

Hoey isn't my MP but she once was.

The council tried to take me to court for unpaid council tax although I had it on direct debit.

She sorted it out in hours. That's these seemingly bonkers MPs stay in, they are often very good locally.
