Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...

My favourite ever lyric. It is a lyric that I sometimes identify with. Genius.

Time got my vote in the poll.

That line is genius, I agree but not as genius as this-

I know a mouse
And he hasn't got a house
I don't know why
I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old
But he's a good mouse.

I can't pick a favourite song but ther's no doubt my favourite bit of the album is when Us and Them joins into Any Colour You Like, just a beautiful rainbow explosion of keyboard.

Nowt to do with Dark Side of the Moon though - very early Floyd penned by poor old, mad old Syd Barrett, proof that the Drugs do Work, but not necessarily in a positive way.

I know it's " Nowt to do with Dark Side of the Moon " Others on this thread have mentioned tracks not on the album.
Bike just makes me laugh.

Loved the album when it came out and played it to death and got quite blaise about it, which is a shame. Still think Meddle is their best album along with the others released around that early half of the seventies the quirky Obscured by Clouds and Wish you were here. Us and them is my favourite track on Dark side of the moon.
As an aside if you have an early copy they can be worth a small fortune.

Rather different in style. One philosophical, the other humorous. Both genius!

UK First pressing with both posters and stickers and vinyl/cover in mint condition £2500 ish

Trouble is I stuck the posters on my bedroom wall and the stickers on the door, and played the album to death.

The amount of drooling and fawning by smashy and nicey DJs, and some of my school chums was enough for me to put this one on ignore. 'Money' is one the the most dirgy, out of time bits of charmless old bollocks I have ever had the misfortune to have shoved down my throat. Music for people who don't really like music. Music for people who LOVE 'Goodbye yellow prick Road', Supertramp (post COTC), Peter Frampton, and ****ing Abba. Prog Rock for people who find King Crimson, early Sabbath, the MIGHTY Van der Graaf Generator, Can, Soft Machine, Caravan, Hatfield and the North and, yes, early mark 2 Floyd a bit . . . . frightening.

I say all that of course with my 1970s to 1980s massive music snob hat on. These days, well, I may give it a listen (skipping 'Money', the only track on the album I have heard, to my knowledge). I'm sure I'd find it quite nice now.

Maybe not.

Angry now.

:lolol:

Edit Mrs T says she loves it. Perhaps I really should give it a listen. Although apparently she says the Flaming Lips version is better. I like Flaming Lips (saw them in Brighton many years ago with my son). What, after all do I know? I suspect Derek and Clive could put me right on that....:lolol:

Bloody hell. he's even got albums on his ignore list!!!

Brain Damage / Eclipse, got to be one the finest endings to an album...

I’m going with eclipse because ending an album with the lyrics:

And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

is pretty special.

I made a CD copy of my vinyl original and it's now on the storage device in my car (46 years of technology). Played it to my 30yo Daughter, well to be honest she had no option but to listen, and she loved it.
