You're right in that I've never attended a basketball match. Whenever I've seen it on TV, the incessant squeaking of the trainers on the court absolutely drives me to distraction, its like a constant cacophony of fingernails being scraped down a blackboard. Added to that, the major downside of basketball is that its too easy to score. There is very little challenge in a 7ft freak plopping a ball through a hoop, hence every game ending up 110-112 or 103-106. And its only 48 minutes ! Its a piece of piss. The surprise is when a team DOESN'T score. Sorry, but thats just points diarrhoea, there's no rarity value to it. "Hooray! they scored" "Hooray! They scored back". "Hooray! Look, they scored again!"

Still, each to their own. I can certainly see why baseball bores most people shitless, but after investing some time in finding out about it and understanding it, I love it. I can't do that with basketball though, cos of the squeaky thing.

Basketball always been my number 1 sport.

Went to my first baseball game last year, left early due to boredom.

You wouldn't know though as I don't comment on every baseball thread ��

The Golden State Warriors (San Francisco area--although the arena is in Oakland across the bay) have won the last 2 NBA championships over the same Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James (James has moved on to the Los Angeles Lakers for this coming season). The Warriors play at Brooklyn Nets on 28/10/18. The Warriors are very much world class and worth it even if they dominate the Nets. Game time is 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday. You may know their all-star guard, Steph Curry,

A lot of sports stadiums in the US will also limit a customer to two beers which is a pain. Not cheap either - I was watching New York Red Bulls at Yankee stadium on Wednesday evening and it was 13 bucks for a pint of craft beer!

I think 95% of fans and players would agree, not trying to be snobbery. Not a fan of either team.

Barclays Center is 6 years old with no history. Madison Square Garden is full of history including other sports/events, great to see that all around the stadium.

While both teams are pretty poor, Knicks generally the better and always have a star or 2 more.

I have put you down as a possible.
When I watch basketball you can't hear their plimsolls squeaking because of the music.
Regarding the scoring, they don't score on every attack , if they did it would be 500-500.
I hope the OP gets Knicks or Nets tickets, I watch BBL which is not bad, but American basketball is something else, I saw the Knicks a few years ago at MSG, a truly top night out, those yanks are barmy.

I see what you're saying, I guess it depends on how much OP can spend on tickets. Both teams are playing Golden state around that time. I would only assume you could get better tickets for the money seeing the Nets.

Can't think offhand of a game that must be more horrible to watch. Where's the engagement in winning or losing 97-95 or similar? Obviously a a lot of people must enjoy watching it. But must be a specialised mindset.

I went to a game last year - Phoenix Suns v Utah Jazz. Glad I went for the experience but wouldn't go again. From a cultural perspective it was fascinating: the build-up, anthem and interval "entertainment" was amazing to see (and loud) - and way more interesting than the sport. There's also no denying the skill of the players and I managed to discern some tactics and strategy. But there was almost no tension as Jazz were almost always at least 6 points ahead. There was about 30 seconds of potential excitement when the Suns scored two baskets with a couple of minutes to go but then Jazz replied and that was it.

I guess baseball is similar (also been to only one game) but it seems to me that people don't go to baseball for excitement. It's a bit like cricket - there will be moments of tension or drama but the main thing is to spend a few hours relaxing with friends, drinking and eating and occasionally watching some sport. If the game is exciting as well, that's just a bonus.

I worked out about watching the NBA a couple of years ago. You really dont need to see the first three quarters, if its one sided you havent missed anything, and if its close you can just watch the drama at the end. Interesting that they've caught on

Are you looking to go to a nets or a knicks game? makes a big difference in price......nets tickets are typically much cheaper than knicks games. buy your tickets on stubhub - usually thats where you will find the cheapest tickets. I go about once a week to knicks games. do not buy any tickets outside the stadium from ppl selling spare tickets of course.
