[Albion] Players who have gone out on loan?

FIFA have ratified new restrictions on loans, yes. Due to be implemented from the 2020-21 season - FIFA to limit loan deals from 2020-21 season - report

However, there are reports that there will be sufficient exclusions that it will have practically no effect on clubs like Chelsea (or Albion). Supposedly, it is likely not to cover domestic loans, exclude players developed through the club's own academy system and not apply to players under 21 or 23.

Chelsea: Exceptions to FIFA loan rules will cover most Blue loanees

So, about as restrictive and effective as FFP then?

Many thanks to CJ and AZG for all this wealth of wonderful information. I did try a while back to start a thread on which the exploits of our loanees could be recorded and readily available to all - you know, info like, Towell scored twice for Rotherham last night, Dreyer getting rave reports on the St. Mirren chat site or whatever - but it didn't take off. maybe something like that should be tried again - maybe even a sticky (Bozza?) - one single place to post information about the progress of our loanees, readily accessible, readily available to all?

Just a suggestion.........................

I believe we have the option to extend his contract by another year.

.....and presumably also the option not to extend his contract? At which point the Rotherham offer is likely to look a whole lot more interesting. His agent won't be happy ...........................

Not sure what you expect Bozza to do here, GT49er. You started the said thread - if people are interested in it, they will post in it. But if you want to see it, I guess you will have to carry the burden, at least initially.

I completely understand how much work it takes to keep updated with all these loan players; for my own purposes, I keep records of all matches played by the academy players (and scholars) out on loan and work experience. Currently, that amounts to 20 players. It is a job in itself. Probably takes me at least an hour every Saturday.

If you want to see a loan thread on NSC - get to work!

I did try for a while. Especially on Saturday afternoons I'd be watching SSN and recording whenever xxx scored for yyy or whatever, but ultimately it was just me bouncing my own thread.
I'd still like to see it as a regular recurring thread, like the word association or the albums you've been listening to threads - but hey, maybe that's just me. Maybe the demand just isn't there, or maybe I set it up wrongly, or I was just the wrong person to try it.

And if there is any desire out there for a thread of that ilk, maybe it would have a better chance if started by someone else.

Think Walton is now down the pecking order at Wigan. Not rated by many on their fans forum. I thought he had been doing ok?

So... any update from forums of how they’re doing?

I merely presumed that Bozza would be the person to make a thread a sticky, if there was any appetite for keeping it going. However, it appears that there isn't sufficient interest/enthusiasm for such a thread. So be it. I thought it was a good idea, but hey ho, not so.

If, after reading it again, carefully, you would like to tell me exactly which part of the basic sentences you don't understand, I will try explaining it to you.

"and presumably also the option not to extend his contract?"yes that is how contracts work... not sure what your point is

"At which point the Rotherham offer is likely to look a whole lot more interesting. His agent won't be happy" why would an offer from a year go look more interesting? And why wouldn't his agent be happy?

:)

That is the point. Glad you've got it.

He turned down an offer from Rotherham because he didn't like it. Without a contract this summer, he will be unemployed. That means his income will be zero (apart from Universal Credit, if he qualifies). At this point an offer of a lower salary becomes much more attractive than it did before when he was on better money from Brighton. If he now takes an offer that is better than the nothing he'll get as an unemployed ex-footballer (but less than Brighton are paying him) will mean that his agent gets less money, and as agents' only interest is money, it is reasonable to assume that the agent will not be pleased when his/her revenue stream diminishes.

Geez, I hope you don't need everything spelled out for you in such detail.

Why would we release him in the summer if we know that there is likely a team that will buy him? I would anticipate us using the option in his contract (that I think there is) to extend for another year and then sell, much like we did with Glenn Rea. That way we get money + can put in other clauses.

However, if we do release him, it would be safe to assume he will be more likely to get the money he supposedly wanted (maybe even more) having played a full season in The Championship vs the previous season in League 1. So I'm sure his agent would be quite content.

Joseph Tomlinson (LB) (On loan at Bognor Regis Town) June 30 2019: He has been doing well down there, probably the best of all of their loans at the moment, bar the pomey striker who has just gone to Cork.

Not going well for the Greyhound....

BRIGHTON: Ezequiel Schelotto (Chievo Verona)
The one-time Italian international joined Serie A’s bottom club in January, came off the bench in two defeats, started a 0-0 draw and then suffered a season-ending injury on his second start. It’s not gone well.
