If you were comfortably off and middle class like you and had the loot to live there, you'd find your pension doesn't go as far as it used to in France these days and your property in the Dordodgne isn't worth as much as it was, as other comfortably off middle class ex-pats have been selling up and coming back and property prices have fallen as a result. Some family friends of my Father are experiencing these very comfortably off, middle class problems right now down in Belves - I'm sure you can empathise with their predicament and plight better than most on this thread could.

If I retire to any country outside the EU I either have to contribute to their health service or get insured. It seems quite reasonable.

It's just a bit of a problem if you've already retired to an EU country, have seen your fixed income in the shape of your pension fall since 2016 and now have to find the money to fork out for health insurance that was previously covered by The NHS, because the rug has been pulled from beneath you, particularly as not everyone retired abroad is wealthy.

I would stop digging in this one, it is predominantly the wealthy that move abroad. That would be either retirees (selling up on inflated U.K. house prices) or those utilising second properties. They can pay locally for health care.

Those looking to work abroad will have to throw in this new reality in the mix with all of the other factors that are considered when moving abroad. I reckon more U.K. people move to non EU countries than EU countries, which means this change is a trifle.

Try defending the CAP than attacking this.

1) Yesterday I name-checked all Brexiteers with more posts than you on this thread, asking if any of them saw Brexit as a precursor to a socialist Britain. Guess what? Not a single one of them did. Your class-warrior persona doesn't appeal to anyone on your own side, never mind those on the remain side.

2) You talk a lot about upper classes campaigning for remain and how all good socialists should support Brexit. With that in mind, why have you been so quiet on the Northern Ireland border issue? Because you know as well as anyone that a no-deal Brexit is tantamount to ripping up an international peace accord, right?

There's no need to play the whataboutery card by bringing the CAP into this, I was just pointing out that not all retirees abroad are wealthy, middle class people like you from Southern England who can easily afford health insurance, particularly if they have long-term and serious health conditions.

I tell you what, I will classify myself as working class as soon as I start referring to my old man as “father”.

If I called him that I would expect a full-on punch to the face, followed up by some snide remark about me abandoning my working class roots and trying to be some middle class prick taking the piss out of him.

At least we now know that YOU must be middle class.

You don't generally type colloquialisms though. In my south coast accent when I speak, I use the word 'aint' when conversing, not 'isnt', as well spoken people like you do in conversation at a dinner party, but I generally don't ever type it for example.

One of the creeping trends of the last ten years, massively amplified and hastened by this Brexit nonsense, is that nobody seemingly cares about the "reasonable" MPs anymore. All we ever hear from are the firebrands, the nutters, the weirdos and the demagogues. Think about it, who do we see? Whether it's the ERG lot, or Corbyn's inner sanctum, or whoever. We don't see much of Hilary Benn, or Phil Hammond, or any of the others. Presumably because they aren't going to say something outrageous, therefore nobody wants them on the TV.

Getting insured might be a problem for some.
Example: 75 year old man has been living in Spain for over ten years, insulin dependent diabetic and now has cancer. He is losing his right to health care which he had with the EU.

(*not a made up example - seen on Twitter today)
Do you think he's going to get health insurance?
