[Travel] Boeing 737 aka Max 8

I remember watching the following video of a 737 MAX taking off prior to its launch. Clearly this is a demonstration of what the plane is capable of, not how it would take-off on a commercial flight, but I thought it was a remarkable feat of engineering that an aircraft as large as that had the ability and agility to do that. It certainly struck me as unconventional.

Obviously it's too early to say what caused this, but it's at least linked to the Lion Air crash in so much as they both occurred immediately after take-off. I guess this is a risk of progress; when you push the technological envelope there's always a risk that you encounter problems that hadn't been contemplated before.

I'm sure that video will put LVGull's mind at rest.

Ryanair will apparently be flying up to six of the Max 8 aircraft from May 2019 onwards....

Singapore now banned them entering their airspace!!

So there have been approx 200 of these flying around for over a year. Even at 1.5 flights per day that’s 300 flights per day. Say 300 days x 300 flights that’s 90,000 flights with this aircraft to date.
2 accidents
So that’s 1 in 45,000 chance of an accident.

So 1100 times less likely than Albion getting relegated
And Albion ain’t going down

I might have a couple of pints beforehand just in case though

Compared with other aircraft, two losses in 90,000 flights is not a good stat.

I’m flying Tui on Wednesday. But I can’t find out if it’s a 737 max8 or not. Also 60mph winds forecast ffs.
Have you done a funeral plan? At least if you have you can sit plummeting to earth with a smug look on your face, knowing full well someone will make use of your free Parker pen.

I did some work for a lottery winner recently in the Worthing area and we were talking about the 14,000,000/1 odds of winning the jackpot.
Nice guy he was. Enjoy that flight though Nobby
