Interesting sub discussion. So you and [MENTION=22389]bashlsdir[/MENTION] are 'old labour' types who left in disgust when Tony Blair got in? Since you both seem to deplore Corbyn too (apologies if I misunderstand and you are Corbynistas) this means you are old labourites who hate both right wing and left wing labour.....and this is because Blair let in lots of immigrants? And presumably you think Corbyn will do the same? And now you back which party as a better alternative, I wonder? Or perhaps you are strident 'I don't vote anymore' types?
Crikey. I have come across some half baked reasons for political allegiance (or head in sand-ism non-voting) but this takes the biscuit. Old labour types deplore left and right wing labour for letting in (or planning to let in) too many immigrants. I am shaking my head in disbelief.
So, we have not had a labour government for many years now, and the tories have failed to tackle immigration. Where I live we are awash with seasonal labourers from East Europe (outside the EC), many of whom have stayed, and all of whom could have been kept out by longstanding British law under the tories.
And yet you STILL carp on about labour like it is a disease. I suspect you have nothing more than grumpy old man syndrome. I am an old man, and I feel the grumpiness too, but I tell myself 'stop, now. People were not all fragrant, honest, hard working rosy cheeked white people you could trust with your life back in the 1970s, the days of full employment, no strikes, no immigrants, and when Britain ruled the waves and England won the world cup every year, and all the players were *white' and that, in fact, despite my grumpy old man biology, things actually are getting better, and some of that is down to the East Euopeans working hard in the fields around Faversham while all the locals do something more dignified.....
