What a shit appointment by a shit PM heading up a shit government.

So exposed are we post-Brexit Referendum and the Skripal affair that the Russians could park up a nuclear sub near the beaches of the Shetlands and there's f*ck all we'd be able to do about it.

Ock noo! Jimmy Perez will be on the case.

If there’s hard evidence, at least charges and a trial. He signed on the dotted line.

There could never be a trial, too many skeletons would be trawled up during a trial. If he was a low ranking serviceman of course, the book would be well and truly thrown.

Penny Mordaunt to be the new Defence Minister, first female in the post. As Robin Williams once said there would never be any wars with a woman in charge but, once a month, there would be some very intense discussions.

Always struck me as being an overgrown boy scout and a total prick as well.
God knows how he got the job in the first place.

At least she has served in the RNR.

Disgraceful for a defence minister to leak to the press, because he had a personal distrust of the Chinese and did not agree with the carefully worked through plan by intelligence experts in giving limited access to Huawei.

The snide should’ve resigned instead and made a statement. Instead he carried on, receiving a ministers level of pay.

Good riddance.

No Chinese company is independent from the state and the state also reserves the right to ask companies to assist in intelligence gathering. The decision to allow them access is odd to say the least.

Gavin Williamson went to the same university as I did, he's probably the most famous alumnus (or should that be infamous?).

I'm not holding my breath for another Bradford graduate making it to cabinet.

What a truly lousy minister he was

its not odd. they are (supposedly) being allowed for use in network edge nodes, not core network, and they wouldnt have any sensistive data anyway (would be encrypted). if they are even selected for use by network providers. whole thing is blown out of proportion. driven by commerical pressures in US.

not the leak, thats pretty outraguous and stupid for somthing that isnt as important as being made.

So Penny Mordaunt becomes the first ever female defence minister. The Tories also had the first ever female prime minister and have followed that up with a second. Labour have never had a female leader or female shadow defence minister. Not quite sure what that says about either party but somehow I would have expected it to be the other way around.

We will have to agree to disagree. A company that can be instructed to submit intelligence to the Chinese government on demand used by the UK government? Mental.

They will have an army of hackers working on encryption algorithms as well.

Diane Abbott for PM, once Corbyn retires.
