OK, so we delayed by 9 months, big deal. What impact does that have to 20 years worth of GDP growth?

Larus sweetiepop - David Cameron from Eton College said he was pressing the nuclear button for Brexit voting oddballs the next day and invoking Article 50 and destroying The UK then. That was the assumption.

Hey Einstein. How can we be FURTHER behind FRANCE and GERMANY, when for the last 20 years our total GDP growth is about 1/3 HIGHER?

I assume that maths is not your strong point!!!

Anyone can cherry pick, but I chose 20 years purely at random. It will take them a long time to catch up on that, and that doesn't take into account that GERMANY is in a TECHNICAL RECESSION now.

Our GDP is behind, and falling further behind Germany and currently falling behind France.

I don't know what else to say.

I'm not cherry picking anything, those are the facts as you have stated.

I think it unlikely that we will be signing any trade deals in the future that we think are bad.

Unlikely? We have to trade to survive, and have now put ourselves into a position, where Fox has managed to sign up just two deals at the end of March. Do you think the rest of the world is going to come rushing to our shores to sign really good deals?
We had trade deals with 27 other countries, with the rest of the world. Now, we've lost that trade, and replaced it with thin air.

Bloody Worthing!
Mr Iarus: UK has been in turmoil for 2 years due to Remainers trying to scupper Brexit.

Just a tad simplistic? I think the Brexiteers have done a pretty good job of it without the aid of Remainers. But I fully agree with this: But Hey-Ho, we can't countenance for stupidity eh

No, I pointed out that the UK has been in turmoil for 2 years due to Remainers trying to scupper Brexit.

The facts are that the UK is a good place to do business, and these advantages exceed the common market/EU.

And, as I pointed out, even with monetary policy much more accommodating within the Eurozone, France has only sneaked above us in 2017 (by 0.03%) and Germany is a little better but is now in recession.

If everything the EU did was so great, then why don't we join the Euro? I'll tell you why, because they have no idea how to run a currency union, so theirs will eventually collapse, and once that happens, so will the EU.

Please enlighten if you think we should join the EURO. After all, the EU project is EVER CLOSER UNION. The current state is not their destination, so do you want:
1. An EU army?
2. EU standard tax powers?
3. To join the EURO?
4. Fiscal transfer from the UK to other poorer countries?

I love it when people say things like “the FACT is that the U.K. is a good place to do business”

Currently it might be but to argue it is a fact that it will be post brexit is just wrong. It might be okay but to say it is a fact is just a lie. It is an opinion presented as fact.

Let’s start calling no deal the venuzuala option. https://www.newstatesman.com/politi...eal-brexit-we-should-call-it-venezuela-option

I remember when larus found an article on the Internet about WTO, misinterpreted that and insisted we could go 'no deal' with no borders and continuing to use all our EU trading agreements and tariffs.

He does have a history of this sort of thing (quite apart from the climate change denier bit)

Your memory really is terrible. Post #67274 :p

It's interesting that you linked to a pasta post rather than quoting my posts. Now see if you can find those posts I made before pasta edited them ?

Oh I forgot you don't do

You've got to hand it to cunning fergus, he gets remainers to make completely contradictory statements and go trawling through all his posts since the beginning of time. :D

:lolol:

Could you imagine if we actually went 'no deal' ?

The major powers around the world would be queuing up to give us a kicking while we're down. Taking back control, Eh ?

Luckily for some of the more naive people, it won't happen.

It’s okay Larus, your mob won. You don’t have to keep lying. I suppose it just comes naturally to you.

Imagine if we went for no deal, refused to pay the £39 Billion and ripped up the Good Friday Agreement as some people want - nobody would touch us with a barge pole.

Fixing that would be the first 2 clauses on page 1 of any future deal with the EU on anything.

Huh!? We will have to take anything we are offered. The concessions we are going to be forced to take genuinely concern me. The lowering of food quality control, allowing US pharma companies to take control of the NHS, accepting foreign workers from some very very dodgy territories, allowing unfettered construction on our green belt, corporate ownership of schools, industrialisation of our prison system. And that’s just what the US will be demanding.
These things are likely outcomes of the trade deals we will be offered. It’s scary.

If this is true, which i suspect it is, tben its good news its been exposed by the press and we have full awareness so the Govt can be held to account. If they make decisions we dont like we can punish them at the ballot box.

https://amp.theguardian.com/business/2016/feb/22/ttip-deal-real-serious-risk-nhs-leading-qc

The current situation is that these decisions would be made behind closed doors by people that are not accountable to the electorate. This is unacceptable, i am sure you agree.

Britannia rules the waves, we have an empire on which the sun shall never set, we hold all the aces, Johnny Foreigner needs us more than we need him and Dr Fox as international man of trade knows every knavish trick going and has them all up his sleeve - Just look at the deal he brokered with The Faroe Islands - The dastardly Faroese never stood a chance. A frankly masterful performance executed with aplomb.

And, tell me, when you looked around at 'Chelters', The Greenway and Simpsons, who did you find yourself aligned with ?

Looks like you slipped into 'business persona' by mistake for a minute. No wonder you avoid posting on any threads that aren't political, it's just too easy to mix up personas. It appears that very occasionally though, the temptation of a little boast is all too much.

It's almost like it's a completely different poster from the principled socialist 'my old man would give me a slap' Scoomber isn't it

We have certainly plumbed new depths with this post haven't we?

There is nothing here of any intellectual substance just tragic innuendo. I dont know how far back you have gone to review my posts, but the fact you have says far more about you than me.

To even suggest that having an interest in horse racing is not aligned with the working class is simply absurd and again provides a beautiful illustration of how little you know about the matters of which you post.

Whether or not you accept my background is moot, the fact is that is that typically it is life experience that colours your outlook, and mine is a deep red driven by how tbe rich expoit the poor. That is why i support a future out of the EU and its Goldman Sachs influenced policies.

The fact that i treat myself to a steak and kidney pie at at simpsons (Rules is better) and a nice hotel in the cotswolds does not change that, but again that says more about you than me.
