To be fair it did take Hitler 5 years before he invaded anywhere, still time for Trump

True, but then let us not forget our own pathological lying PM that took this country to war in the Middle East and Afghanistan leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands and displacement of millions.

For every damp bed that is going to arise from this visit there should be pile upon pile of saturated mattresses connected with the disgrace that is the nation’s favourite Tory PM a certain Tony Blair.

If it wasn’t so pitiful it would be laughable.

West is BEST
Cannot abide the man but firmly believe it is better for him to be out and about meeting other governments otherwise we end up with a tyrant acting out behind closed doors, the rest of teh world trying to guess hat he is up to, a la North Korea.

Cue the millionaire champagne socialist Russell Brand, squeaking for his Guy Fawkes masked, hoody wearing army of unwashed losers to take to the streets, in righteous protest, with a lot of justified vandalism and associated looting to fund their drug and alcohol habits.

Mind you, there might be people protesting simply because the Trump is an ass.

True. But if they vandalise, steal or hurt anyone, they're no better than Trump.

ok so..... you are favouring the Ghandi style opposition ?.... must admit, i'm just starting to feel that I should use my democratic right to voice my opposition to Mr trump and his method of politics and business. I'm not going to break the law but I certainly feel the need to say " Not in my name " Mr Trump.

Comparisons with Hitler aren't entirely ludicrous though are they?

Of course Trump hasn't ordered genocide. But :

He is a fascist. He places his country above every other one and defines 'patriotism' as agreement with his world view, dissent as treachery.
He identifies other ethnic groups as the 'enemy within' and the source of his nation's troubles.
He has contempt for the machinery of democracy, the rule of law and any expertise which doesn't accord with his world view.
He is a racist.
He is a habitual liar.
He is driven by some deep-seated personal insecurity which means he needs constant approbation.
He has absurd hair.

Yes, but as a European straight white male let me just say that his policy choices and priorities make me hard in my pants, and isn't that the most important thing?

How dare the president of the United States put the United States first!

Of course his first concern would be for his own country. My point is a different one - that people who think their country is innately superior to others are on a slippery slope.

I have never quite understood it myself either. It doesn't make any sense.
I'm sure they will be out there thou with their silly placards against Trump when he visits.

I'll be there and I know of a few hundred already. My kids want to come ( they are nearly adults)

I'm no habitual demonstrator but somebody needs to stand up

As a woman particularly, he stands against everything I believe in

Economic growth, the lowest unemployment rate since 2000, the prospect of being the first ever President to talk to and strike a deal with North Korea, record stock market rises, ISIS largely defeated.

But he’s said some insulting things in the past so thousands will take to the streets to protest against the leader of our greatest ally.

All of which have fk all to do with him. No deal has been struck.

I thought it was a ridiculous comparison until you mentioned the hair.

Priorities! There are plenty of domestic issues people should be out protesting but they'd rather heckle Trump.... :ffsparr:

Yeah like why has our roof turned green , when we were promised a GREEN roof in just 5 years , just 5 years ago , Oh , never mind , save the whale .

Apart from pulling out of the Paris climate agreement you mean?

A position he advocated in his election campaign, and then following his successful election to POTUS he duly delivered on his promise.

So don’t blame Trump blame the millions of US citizens that supported his vision, if they had not voted for him you would have a dryer and less smelly bed these days.
