It was pre general election where politicians do the rounds telling each audience/demographic exactly what they want to hear often contradicting a previous speech. Apparently Tony Blair was a past master at it. Two ministers with diametrically opposite views would go in to see Blair both would come out thinking Blair agreed 100% with their point of view.
Sharia law shouldn't be enforced on anyone in a country with 'Western ideals' or be allowed to surreptitiously gain a foot hold under the banner of tolerance and diversity. If people really want to live under Islamic law they should bog off to an Islamic country.
Well that is one example for Bevendean Hillbilly. Throw in another, FGM not for Western ideals.

Sharia law is not enforcible under any form of British law. The media occasionally run some bullshit about it being given some sort of equivalence but, if you read between the lines, it's utter jarg. The odd exceptions relate to some very mild familial disputes or credit / usury arrangements. If any of you have substantive examples where draconian Muslim medievalism is REALLY given primacy over British laws let's have them.

In Luton I where I lived it was not unusual to see women completely covered. Pointed to one and one thing only, hard line, conservative Islam in force. Not good for anyone.
And FGM, which now the figures are actually being reported, although not all yet, is quite a fair few thousand in this country.
