Latin source, "atriculus" - small joint. According to the OED anyway. Although its usually a bloody big joint...

That would depend where you are. Over here a lorry is a big vehicle whereas a truck is usually a pick up. A truck is also a railway wagon though as is a trolley.

In North America, a truck is anything that isn't a car, this includes SUVs but it depends where you are at the time. Ironically a People Carrier is a 'Van' whereas a a van as we know it is a truck.
