Totally up for this. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while and I enjoy the hilly courses. Well not at the time obviously, but I enjoy feeling the benefit of them afterwards.

Thing is June I have Worthing 10K, Weakest Link and Leeds sprint triathlon so not available till 30th.

Edinburgh for you is 27th May. So only date possible for you is this Saturday coming. Is it a date?

Unlikely I’ll be running (on the mend, but not there yet) but if you guys are there I’ll come and yell some abuse.....

It’s a gnarly course, 4.5 laps, one steep, short hill and a longer less severe one, and a lovely downhill bit obviously. Quite narrow so position yourself near the front at the start - there are usually quite a lot of slower runners.

I ran it last Spring. Met the "I always walk my labrador at 10 past 9 on a Saturday morning on this path" man.

Running shoes advice times 2, please.

My Asic Gel Hyperspeed 6 racing special lightweights at 180g are out of production. I need to buy a new light pair for SB efforts and race events.

I also want to buy Saucony. They were recently discussed on here but I can't find the posts. Which ones do I go for?

I wear Saucony Ride. They're a great neutral shoe and very comfortable. Having said that, I do have quite a large blister on my second toe after yesterday, but I think that comes down to poor toenail management!

If you're looking for a super lightweight shoe just for short runs I'd also recommend New Balance 1400. They're too light for a long run, but fantastic for anything up to 10k.

Thanks for shoe info. Glad you fell into the trap of showing you know how to edit the table in future. I can retire.

I’ll let you know tomorrow if I can make it this week. It’s possible. If not let’s just make 30th June a definite.

I’d also be interested if anyone has any recommendations for Asics running shoes. My latest pair of GT 1000s are finished so I’m in urgent need of something new but not necessarily the same again.

Let's make it the 30th June. Dazzer may be on the mend by then and it gives others time to arrange to be there. Not sure if Hooky ?? Still does it.

Can't help on the Asics. I've just ordered the Saucony Ride and New Balance 1400 shoes as I've waited too long to replace.

Ran the Burgess Hill 10k this morning starting at 10:30 and it was comfortably the hottest race I've ever run in. That and the fact it was undulating meant times went out of the window.

I finished in 43:52 but that was still quick enough to take 20th place out of 480 so everyone else must have felt it as well. I was very close to stopping and walking at 7k but managed to drag myself to the last water station and grind it out to the end.

I wouldn't rush to run it again the course wasn't particularly nice although it might have just felt that way because of how tough it was.

Very good prep though for Worthing in 4 weeks.

Just catching up with some amazing running after a couple of days swimming with the kids at my friend's pool and on Lancing beach and, yes, playing pool against Peter Ward (he beat me 2-0 but I was quite drunk by then as Bozza was setting a cracking pace with the Harvey's Gold and, in any case, everyone was staring at me hoping I didn't beat their hero :lolol: )

Amazing marathon Badger , absolutely incredible running. Must be so good to get a time like that after all the training. Straight in to the NSC Super Elite group. also tremendous effort by Simgull at Three Forts. I used to work with the first lady veteran home in the half and she also ran 2.03 according to FB so a very decent time.

In other news I have DOMS from the 8 mile climb and back to the Dyke, whereas the 11 mile progression run I ran on the flat on the Sunday before left me feeling refreshed and raring to go for a week of speed work. Clearly need to do more hills

Ok sounds good to me. 30th June is in my diary.

I might join the New Balance 1400 club now I’ve seen they come in lime green:drool:

They do like their subtle colours. These are the ones I have:

Interesting to read another view of it. I'm a slow runner by NSC terms, tend to average a 23/24 parkrun, but i absolutely crashed and burned today, took just over an hour and had to walk on 4 occasions. Absolutely amazed people ran that this moening having managed ten milers in the heat the two days previously as well.

Bloody tough in every aspect - long grass, hills, windy, even a bit of mud to go with it! Might have been enjoyable in normal conditions...roll on Worthing

Yes fair play to anyone competing the full 26.2 miles across the three days. Saw Mr Blobby at the start who was on his 3rd leg. He enjoyed the first two races so I'd like his view on Burgess Hill as I thought the course was a bit dull and ugly.

Worthing two years ago was bloody hot, but I reckon this was a good 3/4 degrees warmer and nowhere near as flat.

The biggest positive for me were the abundance of water and excellent marshals. The set up pre and post race was also good.
