but then we know those riots aren't really going to take place don't we ?

That doesn't appear to be the opinion of MI5, and given the likely impact as listed elsewhere on impact to food supply. Or are you now claiming to understand food supply better than leading retailers, and national security better than these guys?

When parents start to see their kids not receiving medication they need to keep them alive, or people are sat at home without anything to eat, or the lights start going out, do you think they'll sit there saying "Well I was wrong, it wasn't Project Fear after all. LOL."? I don't. People called the police when KFC ran out of chicken FFS.

Where's Jeremy Corbyn at this time? That's right, nowhere to be seen. Keeping his head down and generally being unfit to govern. I'm personally naturally Labour-leaning, but have NO idea what this guy stands for or what he believes in. Just seems to be blown around by focus groups and sound bites. How did Labour ever come to this? Shameful dereliction of leadership.

he's preparing for government, waiting for the GE to be called. im sure he has a complete plan how to resolve everything to deliver the stated policy to leave, but stay in the customs union.

Strangely, he's been clear on that since the election; honouring the referendum result, but a deal that keeps a customs union ensuring free trade and protection of jobs, and some form of single market integration. Again, when you say no idea, is it just that no one wants to hear it?
That bit is clear, definitely. The bit that isn't clear is how they'd go about it. You're saying "no one wants to hear it", but isn't this insistence on a general election being their preference a case of exactly that? If they can't win against a really really incompetent and self-interested conservative party who didn't even bother campaigning in the last GE, what makes you think the appetite is there for their brand of socialism featuring a front bench of Corbyn, Abbott and McDonnell?

The last election was in June 2017. That was 18 months ago. Would be quite nice to hear from him at the back end of January 2019, when he gives every impression of being more interested in small-minded UK regime change than trying to take any kind of lead in steering the UK through this Brexit BS. Disgracefully mediocre politician to have as an opposition party leader IMHO.

Well I suggest you talk to the experts ...... WATFORD zero and ManOfSussex as they have both promised no deal won't happen. Therefore why the worry of riots ? Or the case that in reality remainers can't really make up their minds ?

Will doubtless dismissed as Project Fear by the hard core leavers. I'm off to dig the allotment...………………...
I'd recommend planting extra spuds, onions and carrots this year. All three are pretty essential but handily, store well if there is a surplus!

The tone of your post suggests some straightforward policy choices that would unite the country behind Labour. Given that Brexit is currently the number one political issue, what exactly is it that Corbyn should be coming out in favour of to garner such universal support...?

How about any support.
May is still ahead in the polls and that's with half her party against her.

How is it possible to have a lame duck ruling party that's still ahead in all opinion polls?

TBH I think Bold Seagull makes a fair point when suggesting some responsibility for Labour's lack of 'message', but even with that said, if JC has any answers he's had enough time to ram them down out throats.

I feel that once the result was in, the Tories ballsed it up by not having a Brexit Bod in charge of negotiations with that lot.
It was May's fault for deciding, without debate, what the red lines were going to be in the negotiations. To exit was always going to be difficult but we needed to talk about what to concede and what to demand as a nation rather than let " Strong and Stable " decide the parameters.

The political equivalent of Ronnie Rosenthal.
From my adult lifetime, I can't think of a single opposition leader who wouldn't have been able to turn the entire country their colour, in the current political climate.

He's a very special man indeed.

In my lifetime, counting the coalition as a Tory win, I think I've really only witnessed 3 changes in government over 10 elections. So I've only known 3 opposition leaders that have done it, 1 of those needed another party to achieve it, and while not a change in government the most recent needed to throw a load of money against some right wing homophobic nut jobs in order to cling on to power. So where is the list of all these other opposition leaders that took advantage of war crimes, black wednesdays etc. etc.to get into power with a government on its knees?

And I know you're not that old either! :wrong:

The legal, logistical, infrastructural and practical realities of it have been pointed out to you countless times, but you're just too hellbent on Brexit at any price to take any of it on-board. No deal = utter chaos and will make 2011 look like a kids Easter egg hunt. Those useless bunch of idiots in Westminister didn't think any of this through when they got the date inserted as the 'legal default' position, that you're excitably cheering on.

For what it's worth, it is clear to me that he is not personally interested in sorting out Brexit. He wants out and in the most messy way possible to enhance his chances of regime change. This is of course not the official Labour Party position, which is why he needs a committee to tell him how to answer a question on Brexit. Ask him a question on his ideology and he answers straight away without thinking, ask him about Labour Party policy that he does not agree with and he struggles to answer coherently or ducks the question completely. He is not a leader at all. Leaders make decisions, something he seems incapable of doing.

do you not think it a teensy bit fear mongering to step from the retailer's letter "significant risk of maintaining choice, quality and durability", to BBC's "leave shelves empty", then to your lights are going out?

does it not concern anyone that the BBC should distort something in this manner? the headline and tagline do not match the content of the letter.

I'm sure he'd love an unbiased press to get that message to you. He gives a speech in Hastings, and it barely registered is in the press. We've got to seriously open our eyes to where we are with our media bias in this country. The people he is reaching are the youth who wouldn't know what a newspaper is. Time will tell obviously. I'm not a massive fan btw. but I think the coverage of him and Abbott in particular is beyond disgraceful.

Not exactly a definifitive defence of your previous statements that 'no deal' can't happen !

I assumed we were a law abiding nation that implements the laws required to function as a country and govern and one that respects international agreements, such as The GFA. 6 pieces of primary legislation and up to 1000 statuary ones are required covering every sector, from finance to fishing. We'll be in a state of domestic and international legal, political, economic and diplomatic limbo, never mind the civil disorder here and in Ireland - we'll be an international pariah too and not just in Europe.

I remember when I moved to Brighton at the age of 18, and ended up in The New Kensington in North Laine for the first time, with 2 of my flatmates. We got our drinks, sat down and these 2 crusties, with dreadlocks, hairy armpits and smelling like they hadn't showered in about 5 years came over and asked us to sign 2 petitions that they didn't seem to know anything about. One was called 'Smash the criminal justice bill' the other was just entitled 'Smash the state.'

You're just like those 2 girls I'm afraid - an anarchist.

Resigning, and letting someone who has a chance of getting elected take over.

Not really, the same impediment of No Deal will have knock on impacts. The UK buys in a considerable amount of electricity from France to cover up for shortfalls, for example. The UK uses nuclear reactors which we are likely to have to shut down as a result of leaving Euratom because we won't be allowed to transport the fuel around. Northern Ireland gets 100% of it's electricity from the Republic of Ireland, every single last volt of it, with absolutely no power generation capability of it's own. How do you propose keeping an electric light on if you don't have any electricity?

does it not concern anyone that the BBC should distort something in this manner? the headline and tagline do not match the content of the letter.

Distort? How have they distorted it? It seems quite clear to me that what they are warning of is a lack of food. Think about it, if you have two versions of something and you have a "lack of choice", that means one of them has run out.

To be fair, I think Westdene Seagull would run a million miles at the merest whiff of anarchy. Just like cunning fergus, he will stamp his feet, insist he wants 'no deal' and everything that goes with it, safe in the knowledge that it's not going to happen and their nice middle class lives, salaries and mortgages won't be effected.

They both know that grown-ups with a sense of responsibility will do whatever has to be done to ensure disaster won't prevail and that the people who always suffer are protected, whilst they continue with their 'principled stance' against the Orwellian EU. (Which seems to mainly consist of writing angry posts on a football forum).

In a lot of ways I think this is far more underhand and dishonest than the simple stupidity of the other 'no dealers' Two Professors pastafarian JC Footy Genius Pretty pink fairy portslade seagull BigGully The Rivet melias shoes larus Tubby-McFat-Fuc etc
