I think (not totally sure though) it’s based on the player they’re replacing. Wakely doesn’t (or rarely) bowls meaning his replacement can’t bowl. I believe it’s to stop a team replacing a bowler who’s just taken 5fer with a batsman in the second innings. Wood bowls and bats and therefore his replacement can do both.

Ah, that makes sense.

Thanks for that.

That is correct.

Interesting to see how many BB thinks we need tomorrow, while still leaving time to bowl them out. I would think a quick 50 runs in as few overs as possible. Weise could be just the man for that...

Looking at the scores so far I can see Northants batting out for the draw with little worry,

Nicely poised on the 4th day...

Sussex will need a couple of wicket clusters and some help from Northants.

Northants scoring at nearly 6 an over - this will be over shortly after tea at this rate.

This partnership settling in now. Unless we can take a couple in quick succession, the draw's starting to become inevitable.

I’ve watched Northants a lot over the last couple of years (I live up here)

Northants normally snatch defeat from the jaws of a draw or victory.

Middle order collapse incoming

So Sussex will win after tea, don’t worry

Good game in prospect now with 60 overs left.

Northants won't get anywhere near - going to be all about the draw and Sussex bid for victory.

Betting Odds

Northants 9/1 (skinny)
Draw 5/6 (worthy fav)
Sussex 5/4 (seems about right)

Here
Without Robinson and Archer don't Sussex lack a bit of "penetration", so to speak?

Quality bowlers to be missing but the attack is good enough at this level.

Shame the pitch hasn't broken up a bit and gone variable as they often do by this stage.
