We have a new Home Secretary hugely in favour of it, a party driven by its need to ape ultra-right policies, and a largely right-wing press that have been hankering for it for 4 decades (Mail, Sun, Express, Telegraph). I expect the death penalty to be back inside 12 months. Oh and gay marriage to be re-outlawed, and abortions much harder to obtain. Breixit-means-Brexit-oh-and-also-means-a-massive-shift-to-populist-neo-fascist-government.

BoJo is right wing yes, he is not facist, do you actually have the balls to make that accusation? It is frankly comical how the lefties are getting in a tizz about the new PM, he is no further right than Thatcher and nobody called her a facist. Seems to me the naive imbeciles that thought JC would be the second coming for hard socialism are realising that he is having no effect whatsoever despite the mess that is British politics right now. They are watching their hope disappear over the horizon as the extreme left Momentum have alienated a huge part of the electorate that they need to get a new Labour government. Boris may well cock things up, probably will, but when the next general election comes JC sure as hell will not get a majority.

I think it's the fact that Boris was educated at Eton and there seems to be a fair amount of envious posters who want to discriminate about that.

From my point of view give everyone a fair chance and then judge and wind into them if you have a fair reason to.

Posh or not I like the geezer and the way he communicates with the public and Mp's alike.

Why are people so scared of the Singaporean model? Genuine question, because I'm intrigued to know why people are.

The book 'Britannia Unchained' may give you an idea - 4 of it's authors are now in cabinet. Low tax, low regulations, low wages, small state, fewer workers rights, more productivity ie longer worker hours etc. I appreciate for some people it sounds like a great plan, but not for me Clive.

The thing they don't like to talk about with the Singapore model is that over 30% of it's workforce is made up of immigrants. When you're Singapore and surrounded by developing countries and have people willing to work under that regime for low wages, why not eh? Post Brexit, the fact is that outside of Europe most countries are developing and quite a few are Islamic, but that's beside the point. You can see what's starting to happen with the immigration announcement the other day by Johnson - the tens of thousands target dropped and an amnesty to illegal immigrants - by a Conservative and Unionist Prime Minister? Ordinarily it would be astonishing, but it isn't really - it's just the future.

You mention Eton and giving everyone a fair chance.

I see what you did there

Yes, I am sure you are right about Eton.
I went to public school, but not Eton! It doesn't necessarily make you the devil incarnate!
I just wish everyone would calm down a bit and see what develops over the next few months.
I reckon whatever happens, there will be a General Election, maybe sometime in November. Now, that will be interesting!

I'm sure you're not, but going to Eton College runs the risk of creating the certain type of person Johnson is. Whether that type of person is actually the devil incarnate is a matter of conjecture, but that's not important. 'The playing fields of Eton' as Wellington once said is a very important and accurate assertion though, because everything is just a game and tremendous, jolly good fun to that type of person. Johnson is exactly this and also exactly the type of person that The British Empire would never have happened without. Namely:

English and educated at public school.
Arrogant.
Entitled.
Delusions of grandeur.
Wealthy.
Inherent sense of superiority.
Xenophobic.
Racist. (Casual or overt.)

The damage done by a no deal Brexit does not matter to someone like Johnson because everything is just a game and tremendous, jolly good fun. Obviously you needed the odd working class finger poking out of a red tunic to pull a trigger (malnutrition permitting) and intelligent, educated middle class people to administer and run the thing (think of the Scottish Doctor or Engineer) but the Empire was ruled by people like Johnson - Shoot a few locals and hang the ring leaders by piano wire in the morning, a spot of lunch than blow the heads off some lions with a elephant gun, pausing for afternoon tea, before a sundowner at the club, then indulge in extra marital affairs and other sexual activities too shocking to talk about on a football forum - because everything is just a game and tremendous, jolly good fun.

I'm sure you're nothing like Johnson and I've known plenty of privately educated people in my life, indeed a flat mate of mine at Uni was an Old Shirburnian, but the problem is not them or you - it's the ones like Johnson that are.

I do

The guy is a racist, misogynistic, homophobe. He’s on record denigrating just about every minority in our society. He is an authoritarian who is seeking to crush dissent and opposition, using a tame right ring press for his propaganda. He’s a fascist, by all manner of definitions

he is no further right than Thatcher and nobody called her a facist.

Nobody called Thatcher a ‘facist’? Really? Hahahahahahahahahahahha

What a bell end

How many more times you idiot? I still vote in UK elections for many years to come, my pension will be paid from the UK, and more things etc etc. As for shaking? No, simply replied once and the screen did not change for a while, so pressed it again.

Sad left wing **** watching his dream evaporate.

you may want to look at the members of the cabinet before throwing racist around, and he certainly isnt facist by any measure or definition. Boris is a liberal/libertarian, most the cabinet seem economic liberals with varying degrees of social conservatism. that isnt facism. people keep pointing to Britannia Unchained as the template for this government, with message of individualism, deregulation and small state, then some claim they are fascist. cant be both, its just a throw away insult that bears no relation to the meaning.
